Hey guys I was wondering how rare the teugelsi bichirs are. There are two at my LFS and I bought one for 35$. I was wondering if it's smart to buy the second just in case I don't ever see one again. While I'm on the subject of rarity I was wondering what is the rarest or hardest to find to the most inexpensive or common bichir in order. Thanks

Not so rare anymore they are being captive bred. The wild ones are still pretty rare. But the captives are still uncommon. $35 is good price it's what I paid. Sorry can't give you an order since availability is relative. The most common I see in general here and online is Senegal then albino , delhezi , endi , and ornate. But for endi there are a couple different locale morphs. The ones listed are most common because they are the ones Being captive bred especially endi and Senegal

The rarest it really depends on if you include the CB forms or not especially on teugelsi, but I will try my best to list the upper jaws because there are too many (at least for me) to list on the LJ side with all the different collection point variants etc..,

This also depends on local availability for me anything other than a common sen is rare. In places like SoCal they have good priced and sized polys and can find them pretty easily (at least from what I've heard). IMO Upper jaws go from (I'm going from most common to rarest because for some reason it's easier) Senegal (both albino and normal) CB teugelsi, ornates both CB and WC, delhezi, Palmas polli, palmas buettikoferi, palmas palmas, weeksii, retropinnis, mokelembembe, WC teugelsi. The moke and retro can go either way for me. As far as CB teugelsi I can go down to my LFS and get one ordered in in about 3-4 days. Thats actually how I got my CB teug about a year ago I just walked in said I want one and they ordered me one. WC senegal for me can be a really tricky one though, because of it's rarity and for some the inability to tell and CB from WC puts it after the weeksii for me. This list is basically for my area (However I haven't ever seen almost half of those in my list in one of my LFS).

Where I am in SoCal, albino sens are the most common, then normal sens and ornates and endli's. Maybe it's just the stores I go to but I never see any other polys. Laps will pop up occasionally but I rarely see them. For the rarest, I believe PBB's are the rarest. I could be mistaken but I never see them for sale anywhere
