Me and another mfk member split an order of teugs from rapps recently, got a pair of em, came in great condition and great packaging. As expected w/ his rep lol they look great, in the description they are called F1 so I don't know if these are from a private breeder or a farm. Going to have to ask him about that

These are the smallest non-senegals I've ever had, I got my ornate from a guy who's pair bred (1 of only 17 that survived) but when I picked that guy up he was a bit beefier. Currently they're eating a mix of frozen krill/bloodworms/hikari pellet. Pumped to watch em grow, the patterns on teugs are outstanding!

my favorite upper jaw species. The adults are absolutely stunning. hopefully your's grows to 2 feet!

A reply from my inquiry before buying

"I agree that they are a rare offer. That’s why you see a Polypterus species offered on my stock list. Normally I don’t bring them in as most of the more commonly offered species are widely available to other importers. I have a international source who has excellent direct contact for lesser commercially collected African species, including Cameroon fish.
They were bred overseas and I imported them on recent shipment."
 
Nice! Gonna have to compare growth rates and such haha. My hope is this is a male/female pair and to attempt to breed them when theyre large enough. Hopefully i can come upon some more appropriately sized speciemns if they arent m/f. Theres a perfectly sized bite out of one of their tails that matches the others jaws lol. Hopefully that heals up well, adding some mela next wc

What size do they get to be? The primer thingydo says 16.75 and someone said they hope yours gets 2ft, so now I'm confused :P
I am going to sub to this, I can't wait to see more pictures & watch them grow! I hope you're enjoying them ^-^
 
Nice looking teuglesi! I was so tempted in buying one today at a lfs, but I don't plan on upgrading my 125 :/

they can get massive I know JA had some in at 22" or so. I have also heard that they can get something like 27" or some crazy size like that.
 
^ wow haven't heard em getting that large! That's awesome! Most sites I've been on say around 22 inch is max, I'm planning on keeping these guys for a very, very long time so this thread will be going until they die lol. They've seemed to have grown a bit (under twice daily feeding and under 20 ppms nitrate) I love pothos!! Lol its helped so much its amazing! There is for sure a noticeable change in the growth of all my fish since adding it, and I bought a 15$ bush of it so its massive. I highly reccomend it for everyones tanks!

Seems like they've become buddies w/ my andinoacara stalsbergi haha they seem to always eat together
