After keeping fish for 10 years and never trying to breed this is my first spawn. I am not even close to being a fan of hybrids but I want to grow a few out and see what they end up like. I'm thinking something like a Red Tex.

Anyway, right now they are just wigglers. But will soon be a snack for my GT. I have a empty 30G in the garage I can set up quickly. At what point can I move them from the big tank? Also what the heck do I feed something so damn small?

Wish you were closer or just stick them fry in a bag and priority mail them to me. : )

Could be some interesting offspring.

Jack

I need your help guys....is it too early to seperate? Should I get a breeder net or set up my 30G? I need some help here.....I really want to see what these can grow into. If's it's a disaster they will be destroyed.

Set-up the 30. Bare bottom makes for easier clean-up and water changes. I would see what they turn out to look like, then, either feeders or trade bait.

Thanks. My main concern was moving them too soon. I actually found an old 10G I had at my parents house tonight. I'm gonna set that up instead. I will keep everyone posted on how things go. Oh and assuming I use old filter and get a consistant temp to the tank they are in now would it be ok to move them tonight? I'm getting ready to clean the tank up now.

So how about what to feed these guys? I don't have a place to buy the first bites here in town so I got a vacation feeder. Good idea?

Too late for that. Already made the transfer. I netted about 10 and so far so good. The parents are hiding the rest in a hard to reach spot. Gonna try for more tonight.....now what about that feeder tablet? Can they survive on that?

it will not be pretty!
i've seen one of these i believe.
it will be a parrot with texas touch to it lol.
i don't like parrot bodies that much.
i got a festae x carpinte, it looks dece.
red carpinte basically lol.

I dont know much about breeding but i heard brine shrimp is the best way to go for fries..and that south american ciclids (dont know about other ciclids) in general care for their young until they are free swimming. so just pay close attention to them use a fry powerhead filtration and i think you should be set..GL let use know how it goes bud!!
