Hey peeps
In my 500 litre I have a a 5 inch cuban a 6 inch texas and an 8 inch oscar.
Ive only had the cuban about a week and at first he was beating up on the texas pretty good, but the past few days the texas has been getting his own back chasing the cuban relentlessly. Id hate to have anything happen to the cuban so my question is what are some good ways to avoid this..
The oscar is the boss of the tank but doesnt really get involved unless they come to close to him and he chases them off.
I have a 9 inch geophagus brasiliensis in another tank which was with the oscar but funnily enough beat up the oscar pretty bad!! perhaps adding him back in might help to spread out the aggresion and have a boss of the tank if only until the others get bigger!
what do you guys think?

If not il feed my texas to my jar ... (jokes)

Interesting...it seems like the oscar and the geophagus are dominating, and they are usually the least aggressive out of the 4 species. I guess that goes to show fish aren't always the same. Well, I think you might have to get a bigger tank.

I have 5 cubans at 3", 5 carpintis at the same size and 5 festae all together. So far cubans own the whole tank.

But You can create boundries with rocks or other objects, change deco locations to break current territories, or add plenty of faster expendable fish to distract the aggressors. might work

thanks guys il try your suggestions. Its funny out of all the cichlids ive owned my geophagus takes the cake for aggression he will harrass anything he can until they die. I got sick of him being a jerk so he made a perfect tankmate for my jardini.

Actually I've always heard that brasiliensis are pretty aggressive for Geo sp.

Another suggestion might be to add in about 5 or 6 midsize Silver Dollars to spread aggression. It works well in my tanks.
