Does anyone know anything about breeding a pair of texas? Mines already paired off and I was wondering if there is anything I can do to ensure they breed soon. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks :)

sorry that this is no help but might be intresting... i live in texas and once had a local species tank. i had two texas cichlids i caught out of a local creek. the two made a pit inthe tank and spawned. i had had them for about a year hen they did. quite intresting.. good luck!!

Just keep them fed and keep the water clean. Mine just breed and they are barley 3".

well from my experience they have to be big enough to breed and if you want the female to have eggs fast, you need to feed them blood worms or king worms. Pellet is no good if you want them to breed fast. I just have my super red texas breed with flower horn and her eggs carry is just 2 weeks apart. Faster then convicts. She got her eggs again so fast that I didn't even notice until her due day which her anal stick out very long. Also keep the water clean and stable.

Hi. Place a shallow bowl (earthen) or flat slate near a corner of the tank. You will know that the female will soon lay eggs once they start cleaning the bowl or slate. Separate the parents once the fry start swimming. Good luck.
