i just moved appartments and was transfering the fish in a rubbermaid tub. all was well but i noticed that the tex and oscar would lay on top of each other and would basically never seperate in the rubbermaid tub. well i found this to be unusual, I relocated the tank and made sure everything was set up for the fish about 4 days after the fish went into the tank the texas layed eggs on the side of his pot and does not leave the pot. also the oscar blocks off that half of the tank so the large goldfish and convicts cant come close.

?'s 1) this am some of the eggs have turned white.? why

2) i think i need to remove the eggs or fry sometime when?

3) is this uncommon for these 2 fish. are they possibly just infertile eggs?

would love any kind of help i will be on all day. hungover lol:screwy:

The eggs are turning white because they are not fertilized. Soon all will turn white as the oscar/texas mix is likely not possible.

I had Oscars that would act like they were going to breed and then one would lay eggs, but they were never fertilized. I think they were both female. There's no hope of fertilization unless you have a male Oscar in the tank, I would think. You'll see that they will continue to turn white, until all of them are. Then, unless you have a pleco that wants to snack on them, I'd take them out, because they'll get fungus-y and gross if you don't.

a few eggs turning white is normal just watch to see if the majority do.

if they do it's either the parents first time or the combination isn't possible. (unlikely given all the hybrids we have)

also have you checked the breeding tubes on both? what shape are they?

so the pot was empty this morning i think the pleco ate them. they were all gone this am way disapointing. and if i would of removed them how do i take care of them myself?

if you wana try next time just put them into a tank with clean water...or buy something that can hang in your tank to put them in, safe from any fish
