Is this a texas cichlid and if it is what kind???? I have seen pics of them but they all seem to look a little bit different. Is it a male or female and how big will this guy get. Any help would be great.

first posts what's shaken I think u got a green Texas there not so sure of sex I'll let someone else handle that

Carpinte but no idea on sex

id say female because of the body shape, and it is a carpintis escondido

i agree with above. Carpintis. not the escondido variant though...

i thought major squiggling on the face meant escondido because rarely does a normal carp. have those squiggle marks. If i am wrong than someone please correct me that is just what i always thought, but nice fish anyways. Has a nice belly on her and good colors. GL

yes, thats right. but the wormy markings are much more pronounced on a true escondido. like this one

holly smokes. This is a very impressive escondido to say the least. tipically speaking though, they are not this nice looking i have seen peoples' fish ordered from Jeff Rapps as escondidos, and they look like the first one. im not saying that it is no doubt an escondido,(and there really is no sure way of knowing unless it is from a reputable breeder) but i usually dont seee noermal carps with the squiggly markings.
