ive been thinking about gettin a texas cichlid for my tank. are these fish super aggressive? any info would be greatly appreciated. thanks guys/gals.

its a 180 gallon and there is a pair of cuban cichlids in there that are about 3 inches long. a 10" pleco. there was a 4 inch jardini in there until it took flight out of the tank. so i was thinking about gettin another one of those. ( i have covered all gaps on top so that wont happen again ).

sounds like world war 3, if you get the tex .. especially when the cubans breed..

ok. thats what i was thinkin. thanks for the info. the cubans are pretty aggressive especially with the other females that were in there before i took them out. i do on the other hand have a 150 gallon tank that is empty. what would you say about having the texas in there with some other cichlids. ive never had them before. i just got rid of my dovii pair that were in the 150 by themselves. i couldnt put ANYTHING in that tank or it became lunch for them. are the texas cichlids aggressive like that?

I have a supposedly red Texas. Which isn't red yet. He's about 4". He's in with 3 RD/Midas. He is definitely the boss for sure. But no one messes with him. He lets them know it his tank. But they have been together since I got them.

i have a small texas with a bunch of common ca cichlids and he is def the most aggressive. he is second in command, only bc he is smaller about half the size of my ebjd. he is ok with everyone that is in the tank now, but if i try to introduce a new fish he fights with them constantly

thanks for all the info guys. ok well from what ive read they seem to be less aggressive than my dovii. i love the coloring of the herichthys species. great colors. i think im gonna go for it. thanks alot guys for the info/advice.

It is not a problem with the cubans as long as he respects there breeding area. I would go for it.
