So....I had a pair of Texas cichlids alone in a 75 gallon and now I have the result. Really surprised though because the female is only maybe 2 inches. The male, shown in the picture, is maybe 3 inches? They've both been taking turns fanning and guarding the eggs. Really interesting. If I make no particular action and just let nature take it's course, do the fry survive? Then what? What do you guys do? Also....is the pic of a cyanoguttatus? Thanks for any info...advice.

you don't have to do anything except use a heavy duty wire-tie and cut the foot out a a nylon stocking and use the wire tie to secure the nylon over the filter intake IF you want the fry. Are the eggs white or opaque....the picture looks kinda "both-ish"

If you want to keep fry healthy, after they become free swimming you will need to do lots of small feedings throughout the day. I start brine shrimp cultures for first food, and always let lots of algae grow in the spawning tanks so the fry have stuff to graze on between feedings.

a brine shrimp culture above, algae in a breeding tank

you can also pulverize fish food and use a turkey baster to shoot it into the school of fry

Love them in the breeding dress
Looking good
Let them be parents if it doesn't work out in sure they'll try again sooner than you think
