texas cichlids mating problem

I want to ask a question, I got a female and I put her in the aquarium with the male and he hit her, he ate her tail and fins, do you know how to tell me how to mate?

More than not just adding a male and female will not get you a breeding pair. They have many test/rituals they go thru before a breeding pair will form.
It apears you have a male you like. If you want a pair you will need to add several females and let them sort it out.

I tried to get my male Saggitae a new female after he killed his previous mate after five batches of fry. I got three females. Two he outright rejected. One looked promising till he kilked her while I was sleeping.

You could try the divider/plate method. Put in a divider so they cant get to each other. Put a plate of some sort under the barrier. Hopefully she will lay egfs on her half, you then spin the plate to his side so he can fetilize the eggs.

I believe you have two females. See the black patches on their dorsal fins? This is an indicator of a female.
