Hello! I have a female Texas that is wanting to breed. She has her hole made and two males that seem to be ready, on and off.. she seems to be interested in my male FH, which really doesn't show much interest at all. There has been some lip locking and chasing..no egg laying though. Can anybody tell me what's going on, or needs to be going on for this to take place. There has been some secreting from him, as well as my GT too! This has been going on for at least a couple weeks. The two males seem to be even less interested lately, but she's still digging, chasing, and has her dark line going up her sides...??

Simple, it's exactly as you say, the Texa is interested but the FH isn't. You just let them be and hope for the best (which could be the best thing that can be done), or try to strengthen their bond somehow. That or add more FHs. What size tank? ;D Also if you want to see some breeding going on, I'd suggest getting rid of the GT. :)

Thank you!:) Well, I know my tank too small for all I have..my bad due to lack of research before purchasing some of these fishes. It's a 75 gallon and it started with my GT and a Red Jewel in a 29 gal. I bought a bigger tank and thought about another tank mate to ease the bullying the Red Jewel was doing to the GT..it worked and in no time the GT was king of the tank, working as a peacekeeper though. He broke up fights mostly brought on by the Texas...which I had no idea atthe time of purchase would be such a large fish (FH too). A JD was also a new tank mate at this time. The Texas and FH were the only ones that I had not researched as to size and such. I do plan on utilizing my 29 again, but would like to recaulk it first, as I now know a 75 is a min recommended for any of these three large fish to be kept alone. I have seen the growth of my GT seems to be stunted. He has gone from the biggest fish the 3rd biggest..the FH was the smallest four months ago and is now the largest!
