How big do these two fish get? Also, how aggressive are they, and what are suitable tankmates. I saw a 8 inch one (probably a turn in) at PetCo (5 feet away from a tank full of oscars and ich) and it was beautiful! Poor thing...I would have loved to take it, except it was probably big enough to eat my GT.

My texas chases my gt sometimes but they get along without fighting for now hopefully. They are known to get mean but not near as mean as others.

They have the possibility to reach the length of 10-12", but usually stay a little smaller, The Cyanogutattus(Texas) is usually more Aggressive than Carpinte(Green Texas). Green Texas also will not grow as big.

Most people would say the opposite...carpintis seems to be more aggressive than cyanoguttatus. Carpintis shouldn't grow as large as Texas cichlids, but I know MoJo has a carpintis 'escondido' that is probably close to 12", which is the usual max size of a regular Texas. I have a ~ 10" male carpintis 'escondido' that is still slowly growing.

Always hard to tell the Aggression of fish, my Cyanogutattus is Okay with all he is packed in with, a year ago he would of tore them to pieces. I have always heard that Carpinte were less aggro. and went with it, not easy to compare one to another...

What is the scientific name for the green texas and the blue texas again??? Which one is more aggressive??? I have a blue texas...I figure he'll get to be 10" or so.

the blue and the green are the same type of cichlid, there name is herichthys carpintis, they say 7-8" but its not uncommon to see bigger
