hie i like to ask is this a green texas or texas? and is this pure blood?
intending to grow them out for breeding project thx

Looks like a cyano.

cyano is the texas cichlid right? is it pure blood? i got it from a local breeder in indonesia.. theres a lot of "hybrid" "in line breeding" here.. many of the vieja synpilum local breds are no longer pure blooded...

Yes common name would be green texas. Nice looking tex you have there.

:wall: WRONG. Cyano's common name is Texas cichlids. Carpintis are known as the Green/Blue Texas. The chances of finding a 100% pure Texas in the hobby is rare. I would never buy a Texas cichlid from LFS simply because Texas cichlids can hybridize with Green Texas, BP's, Vieja's and much more. Fortunately for me, I can get a WC Texas whenever they're in season. And judging from the Texas cichlids that I've caught, yours is most likely a hybrid due to the blue sheen you can see on the dorsal fin. Plus, the body shape is odd.

Caprintis is not a texas. Cyanos are the true Texas. They come in a few variations. The two main or more common varriations are either green or purple. They are found in Texas or northern Mexico.
Caprintis spots are much larger and they are found further south in only mexico not the U.S. Caprintis varriations are often referred to where they are found.
Anyone else like to chime in?

I have a escondido carpintis, a cyano texas, and a h. turqoise (the third variety). Each are different. This is a cyano texas.

Well at least we all agree on one thing lol. Common names can be misleading anyway.

This fish is a Mixture of both...

Not pure
