texas questions.

i have heard that texas cichlids are delicate and hard to grow out, is this true??

texas is carpintes right??

any other info on texases would be grateful (im a newbie on texas)

There are two species. The texas cichlid is H. cyanoguttatus
there is also the green texas cichlid, which is H. carpinte
 
how do you identify them? they get to around 10" dont they?
 
Here is a pic of my Tex. The first pic was a year earlier. You can see how big his hump is getting.

The Males can reach around 12 inches. I got my Carpintis when he was 2 inches. I have had him for 3 years and he is now 10 inches. He's the boss in the tank because he's the largest. I think in time my Flowerhorn or Jag will be the "King of the Tank". They are aggressive fish but not nearly aggressive as a Jag, Red Devil, Trimac, or Red Terror.

I do enjoy my Carpintis. He is not very shy and will eat anything. He's becoming a "Glass Banger".

No, I don't have any pics when he was small. He did breed with a Red Parrot and here is a pic of one of the babies. I didn't keep any of the babies.
