I have a 4" female texas. Apparently she is ready to breed. She is going literally nuts trying to get my male convict of simiar size to breed with her. She has dug sevaral pits, claimed every flat rock and cave hers, and runs away every fish that gets near her territory. There is never a moment when she is not rubbing up on the convict, trying to impress him and lead hihm to her spot. The male convict is not acting interested. Its been going on for almost 2 months. I really want them to have offspring. Do you think they will eventually breed or is there anything I can do? She can't be in crazy breeding mode forever. Thanks

I've seen Texas x Convicts before. So yes it is very possible. Sometimes a large water change can induce spawning. The male may or may not take interest though. You never know.

sounds like its turning into one of those psycho stalker situations, perhaps a restraining order is needed?
sorry for the lack of insite, i have nothing to add here

You sure your con is male? What kind of uppity male con wouldn't hit a Texas? Got to be a female.

I just shot a video of this, I am in the process of uploading it to youtube. I'm very sure the con is a male. He has a long top and anal fin with no color on the belly. I'm not sure why he won't breed with the texas. She is a pretty one. Nice sparkles all over her body with a deep black belly. I might be dealing with a *** convict. I'll probly have to name him justin beiber or lance bass, not sure.

here is a video clip of what i'm talking about. Towards then end you can see the texas made a pit in the sand. She is constantly chasing off other fish and claiming her territory.
