So I took every thing else out to see what will happen

yes i bet. female fish can be real nasty lol. mine pick on the boys then the boys pick on weaker boys and so on . lol
If he face is turning white and getting dark bars I bet its male.
look at vent male tubes comes down to a point. if female tube is sticking out shes really ready but it will look more like a tube
