Yeah, there has been no change in the legality of them. I'm going to shoot them an email later on.

Short answer to why they are illegal in the US is because they are endangered in the wild.

Tropical Fish Hobbyist Magazine October 2006 Issue page 25:

There is a question regarding the proper spelling of the word AROWANA. In the reply, they say that Asian Aros are legal in the US if you have certified captive bred animals.

It's hard to understand why such a top notch magazine would offer incorrect information as to the legality of keeping these fish.

Thoughts??

I thought i was the only person who noticed this. This was the question and answer portion right ?

Lmao first day they are legal in the u.s i will go buy a bigger tank and get a green arowana... (green = fav color) or a super red or a blue if they have one..

or i can go out and buy 3 400 gallon tanks and get 1 of each :)

mhhhmm yummy

Yep. Q+A section. Stood out like a sore thumb.

wydfya - Yeah i noticed it too while reading it this week. Just an honest mistake probably.
Or maybe the author still remembers the time when asian aros were legal to keep in the us.

Boy would it be nice if that were still a possibility. I read that and had to go back and re-read the section... Threw me for quite a loop.

Stupid mistake. You would think that most people know that they are illigal and if you search for it you really can't get an answere that they are legal.

But then again, everybody makes misstakes.

redtail - just long long ago were they legal here in the US?
