i dont know if this is the right place for this ? has anyone had any run ins with what i heard called thai cobra eel. i have not even been able to find a pic of this fish but my lfs said he is getting some and i asked if i wanted any. i dont even know what the darn thing is.

The problem with common names is that they don't mean much.
In this case there are at least three fishsold under that name, one is the South American Synbranchus marmoratus, another is the tire track spiney eel, and the third (most likely) is the (up to 40") Monopterus alba, or asian swamp eel.

well at least i know what it looks like. and some minimal info on this critter. does or has anybody kept these. are they a good fish to keep or are they gonna be more truble then its worth. how about cm into inches. how big do they get

a meter is about 3 ' right? english please. so does any body tried to keep them?

I've seen them around, there was a market in San Fran that sold like ones by the pound. They are very hardy, even surviving burrowed into the mud of dried out rice paddies. Any standard pH and fresh to brackish water, temps from high 60s to low 90s will work. Feed pellets, fish, meaty foods. don't trust with small fish.
I have kept the smaller (and harder to find) M.cuchia and the little (and really hard to find) M. hodgarti (Indian spaghetti eel), that last one was about 8" long when it was eaten by a 3 1'2" Nandus nandus.

That was in 1985, a market near the flower market, don't remember any more about it. The other eels came from a LFS in Oakland but I don't remember the name of it.
