Hello every one , this is my first post in this site so please dont hesitate to warn me if I misbehave,

I have some experince on American cichlids and flowerhorn also , but have an extreme condition right now , I have a young Thai Silk FH !!!

My friend (which I bought the fish from) told me to feed him with veggie and spirulina based pellets , and prevent bloodworm and shrimp based ones , as they are going to effect the blue collor bad , the fish will go darker . I would like to hear what you will say , as I dont want him to get less protein or fever types of protein unless it is that neccessary .

Nice to be here any way , bestr regards and thanks in advance.

Ok, nobody else said it - check out the sticky's at the top of the page about flowerhorn care first. Veggies are fine, but these guys need a well balanced diet. I have a blue flowerhorn that eats NLS just like my red dragon flowerhorn and it only makes him look better and doesn't change his color. I good staple food is just that, it won't turn them another color unless the fish is going to turn because of genetics. Fish tend to go dark when they are stressed or upset more than anything else I've noticed.

As a matter of fact , it was the first post I red in this site , I have all the conditions it recommends , such as , colored Bacground and gravel , single fish in the tank ect...
here is a list of my fishs diet (he does not wat to eat them all but I insist ... )
NLS Thera A+
Danichi Veggie FX
Tropical super sprulina forte
Sera Discus color Blue
Tetra pro vegetable
*Live meal worms
*Fresh Vegetables

any fh should need the same type of supplements in there diet...I would give it high quality pellets and meal worms, bloodworms, red worms, earthworms, craw-fish, shrimp, some veggies as well...keep the live stuff varied but as far as the pellets I would use the best type you can get your hands on...there is a big debate on fh diet what they need what they dont need...what makes them live longer or die faster...so on and so on....some of my FH didnt like the pellets but I starved them for a day or two and down went the pellets now they eat pellets just fine and i give them live foods as a mid day snack pellets morning and night...
