I am thinking about picking up a great looking thai silk FH from my lfs. Hes about 6-7 inches and there asking 125$. But my question is, can they go in a community setting? i have never owned any cichlids but when i saw this guy, he looked too good to pass up.

I would highly recommend against dropping any flowerhorn in community tank. It has worked out on a few VERY rare occasions. Maybe if the community is just a couple of other larger fish you can have success.

Your best bet is to put him in his own tank though. Thai Silks make great centerpiece fish.
