Thai Silk Potential?

Terrible Pic of my Thai Silk best I could get though not sure how everybody gets these stunning shots of fish anyhow not showing much potential just wondering if it could be a late bloomer. More into hard head anyway but this fish doesn't seem to be showing anything at all. Still kind of small 4 inches I'm thinking female cause no kok whatsoever but growing extremely fast and eats like a maniac like a male so I have no idea.

Also If I was to breed what is the best crosses for thai silk i have heard Red Texas x Thai silk are pretty nice but not sure about other crosses. THanks everyone.
 
I say it's a male and he might have potential. Wait until he gets to 6inches to see if his kok develops. Is he solo in his own tank? A mirror should help boost his head if he is in his own tank.
 
Thanks for the reply...Yes solo I tried the mirror thing and at first it freaked out and stressed so I stopped tried again today and literally sits in front of it and stares.....no aggression yet attacks whatever is in the tank when I'm cleaning.?????
 
I can't speak of FH mirror stuff but once my GT decided his reflection was another male which took a few days he took to attacking it several times a day and dug a nice pit right by that end of the tank I guess to make sure the "other" fish knew the territory was taken.
 
I had three like that. Waited even at 6" and still nothing barely a bump and sold them. Doesn't seem like any potential to be honest with you.

Were all 3 Thai Silk or SRD types, just wondering if this is a problem with the Electric Blue varieties.

They all were Thai silks. Exactly like that. They looked like that but big at 6". I mean they are cool but won't have a nice kok. It should've showed it by now even a little bit.

Thanks, not disappointed at all though, he is on a white background right now and you can see the dark blue coming out more and more in the back half of the body. On a black background have a feeling it's gonna be a stunner.
