So Cal
I have been off MFK for quite some time now, but never got out of the hobby. I currently am raising a pair of haitiensis, but when I saw this little rock star I had to get back into the flowerhorn game.

Always been a huge fan of flowerhorns, their incredibly aggressive yet interactive personality makes them one of the most fun cichlids to keep IMO.
Unfortunately, most sent here from overseas develop hex due to the stress of shipment and overall weak immune systems. Unless properly de-wormed, most overseas FH don't survive too long.

I was lucky this guy was born in a good home. He is currently being fed 1mm NLS Hex Sheild (metro+Epsom salt) for the first 3 days. Sometimes NLS flakes as well.
Afterwards I will maintain a Thera + A diet and upgrade his current 20long w/ AC70; that being when my haits grow bigger.

Overnight this guy grew out of being homesick; BB and probiotics added and the next morning he was super active, attacks flakes and already glass bangs his reflection.
I really like his bright blue colors; never seen one so bright at this age. He also seems to have nuchal potential.

I hope this FH stays healthy. Never owned a Thai Silk; pretty excited!
I will use this thread to update his profess every few weeks or so. Pics are not edited/filtered.
Post up your Thai silks if you have any!

Great blue color. It almost looks like a short body.

thank you fellow MFK members!
At first I too thought he/she could be a short body, but doesn't seem to have any deformities or small body proportions when looked up close. That's why I just have him in a 20long for now w/ AC70 till the 75g opens or I get a 40 breeder.
This guy is attacks food like crazy, not skittish at all; will be sure to update!
He is being fed only natural pellets like NLS, no sumo, humpy head or that junk that has fillers. If he has the genes for the nuchal hump, it will develop in time. I just want this guy to eat more spirulina to bring out more of those blues!!!

Foot is overrated for inducing color for genes. I never fed mine any special goos. Grew mine out from the same size as yours. Now he's a proud dad lol. Gl with your flowerhorn20150711_104750.jpg
