So my Thai-Silk Flowerhorn ATE all my Electric Blue Jack Dempseys, then my Gold Jacks then my Blue Gene Jacks, then my Platinum Honduran Red Points. So basically I had just one fish in the tank. I added the Rose-Queen Flowerhorn in just to see if it would destroy that too and to my surprise they are in LOVE. Not sure if they are a pair or even which are what sex but they did lay eggs once already(so at least one is a female) and now are insperable. Here are some PICS...

The thai silk is definitely female. I'm thinking the Rose Queen might be female as well.

Water, that was my thought as well. I am interested though in what qualities of the Thai-Silk makes you thing that she is female - I just want to learn more to be able to tell the sex more easily. the Thai-Silk looks way more muscular on top and even though it does not have a big KoK, it does have a thin pointy sex thingy, (gonopodum??) so I had been thinking based on that that it might be a male. Even if they are both females, they get along so well that I am not going to introduce any more fish to their 125 gallon tank.(except maybe some dither fish for them to chase as they already have one tiny target fish, a calico convict x platinum HRP cross that was born into the tank before the TS killed the parents.) I will let them live in lesbian joy forever if that is what they like. Far be it for me to try to impose my conservative morality upon two souls in love.

They look good art. I wonder how the fry would turn out

The Thai silks body shape is a give away. It's a little bit too round to be a male. Also, the fact that there was eggs, but no viable fry can mean two things. Two females, which isn't a rare occurrence in cichlids, or the Rose Queen is a male and male Rose Queens are usually sterile.

how can you stand looking at that rose queen all day? do yourself a favor & ship to me.

I had no idea that male Rose Queens were sterile but it makes sense with parrots and other highly RED central american hybrids being potentially sterile. Even if one is sterile or both are females, the color is so awesome that I enjoy them just being fish and having two Flowerhorns in the same tank that are not destroying each other. They are so relaxing to watch as they cruise around the tank in sync with each other.

Very nice looking odd couple! Hard to ask for more variety in color from a pair of fish.
