So two days ago on Monday I decided I was tired of my RTBS hiding in the dang cave. I would see one of the three maybe once every other day, what Good is a fish you can't see? So i decided to take the cave out, I took it out and placed it in the sump so the BB on the cave didn't die.

So Yesterday, on Tuesday i noticed one of my baby RTBS was missing, from past experience I knew that they will "glue" them selfs to the top of the cave when they are scared. So I went out looked in the sump and sure enough he was swimming around, that's another reason i placed the cave in the sump, as i almost lost a fish that stayed in the cave after it was removed.

Today I wake up and my tank water level was about 2 inches lower then it should have been, so I checked the sump, the return line had worked its way off the pump. I had water all over the concert floor, I most have bumped the pump and loosened the connection while i was getting the fish.

What is it plumbed with? How is it fastened? Things could have been a lot worse. If it pumped dry, the pump could have caused an electrical fire...not good. I use pvc (glued) for my sumps. Personally, I dont trust hoses or clamps.

well all the connections are pvc glued, except the connection directly to the pump, another words all pipes and 90's are glued. I don't want to glue the PVC to the pump as I like to take the pump out and clean it once in a while, or replace it. If you glue then you have to cut the pvc and re run it or use couplers.

Ah...I know what you're saying. On mine, I use a threaded flange that allows for quick removal of the pump when needed. You can see it in this pic. It is the piece in the sump, just above the pump, to the left.
