The Easter Bunny delivered me some goodies to the man cave.
I did take off the top shroud, and turned the pump sideways for more clearance. I proactively cut some yoga mat and placed between the pump and the mount on the canister top. I read that could help make it more silent.
Lessons learned.
1. This thing is massive, everything about it is massive.
2. The Efimech now is cheap thin, and half the density of the older Mech, they did cheapen it.
3. Three liters of Efimech is plenty, no need to get 5 liters and for some reason I could buy 5 individual bags for less than the 5 liter bag. Three liters gave me 2-3 inch deep bed of this.
4. Efifix is just like pots scrubber material, I don't know what I was expecting but not quite that. You could use scrubbers and save money. I bought 10 liters but used only 6. (5 would have been sufficient)
5. Dont need to buy a media bag (I did) it comes with one.
6. Substrat Pro is tha bomb its my favorite bio media. I bought 5 liters and added one liter I had around the house.
7. Be prepared to saw some plastic tubes.

Ive always used Eheim Classics for my canisters just not the big dog. So far I think I'm happy. I do wish they would modernize some of the fittings, intake tubes etc. and change them to black. Also the spray bar has some kick! Finally a Classic with some flow!
