Hello all,

My tiger oscar's HITH is showing signs of healing. I read the threads here and applied what is the most appropriate method for my fish's condition. I just want to thank everybody for sharing their knowledge and experiences. You are the ones that make newbies like me feel confident and ready for the challenges that lie ahead because we know that you won't hesitate to help if the needs arise. I know my oscar is on his way to full recovery. Once again, THANK YOU EVERYONE!

Glad to hear that your Oscar is on the mend! :mwave:
You sound like a very dedicated fishkeeper to research and carry out any methods to cure it! What did you find helped in the end?

I took out the carbon, dosed proper amount of liquid vitamins in water after WC. Soaked food in vitamins every other day. After a week I noticed the symptoms started to go away, there's still a hole on the center of his head though but healing fast. It may leave a scar but no big deal. I don't know which one worked, taking out the carbon or the vitamin treatment or combination of both but I might not use carbon again.
I owe you one fellow members.

It's good to hear your Oscar is getting better. As long as you do weekly 50% water changes and pratice good general mantainance your Oscar should continue to lead a healthy life for a long time. I do not use carbon in any of my tanks and haven't for years. Remember clean water and a good diet is the number one key to a healthy fish. Good job with your Oscar!
