Here you are jjohnwm jjohnwm . Whilst I was doodling away today at the dining room table Mr postman brought me a very welcome package. That's my nightly viewing for the next few weeks sorted out, lol.

Nyuck,...

I loved their Niagra Falls routine amongst others.

One of our local stations hosts 2 hours of their shows every Saturday night from 6PM to 8PM on cable tv. As kids we couldn't wait until they were on tv, probably drove our parents nuts.

When I was growing up it was mainly Laurel and Hardy. The three Stooges were rarely on, though when they were on I used to love them. Until I looked into recently I didn't realise how expansive their body of work is. That box set contains 17 discs. In total there are over 200 shows and, due to them hardly being on when I was young, I bet I've only seen a fraction of what they've done, so I'm looking forward to bingeing now, lol.

I'm jealous! I suspect I have probably seen all or most of that footage a dozen times over or more, and know much of the dialogue by heart, but I'm smiling just thinking about re-watching it yet again.

D deeda , did you say...Niagara Falls? Slowly I turned...then step by step...inch by inch...I *slap* *gut-punch* *eye-jab* *right-cross*...and then I knocked him down...:)

Thinking back to the political un-correctness of those sketches when viewed from today's perspective...there would be more time spent reading the mandatory viewer warnings at the beginning of the film than actually watching the thing.

I'm a victim of coicumstance...

I don't have a clue what the "Niagara" sketch entails, lol. Which is good really. I don't want to start watching them and soon realise I've seen that one, and that one, and that one. Hopefully 95% of them will be brand new to me.

You will likely find that there are plenty of short bits you recognize, that are in actually just a few minutes taken from somewhere in the middle of a 20-minute short film.

I envy you the discovery of the mirth that will come to mind after your first exposure to such innocent phrases of Stoogese as "Give me your hand!", "Take off your hat!", "Tools? What tools?" and many others.

Then you can progress to the more specialized catchphrases that don't normally occur in normal non-Stooge conversation. "Mingle or I'll mangle!", "Beans! Beans! Beans!" and "Stop! Stop this at once...you disgraceful vagabonds!" leap to mind, but there are plenty of others. As an electrician, I am especially fond of "No wonder the water isn't flowing...these pipes are full of wires!" and the required response of "Well, rip 'em out of there, we've got a job to do". :)

The "Niagara Falls" routine is probably their best-known sketch; to a dedicated Stoogeophile, it is to them what the legendary "Who's on first?" bit was to Abbott and Costello.

You do know who's on first, don't you? :)
