After watching Joey02's video, decided to drill a tank for the first time, wish I would have done this years ago.
This first tank is a 35 gal high I found in an alley, perfect for practice.
Made a template from wood, drilled a hole on top to insert some air tubing, for cooling water.

Shot from the inside.

drilled, not yet cleaned

bulkhead screwed in

ready to fill tomorrow

I have now drilled 3 tanks successfully, the 35, a 55, and yesterday a 120 gal, and it was 3/4 full of water with fish while being drilled.
Wish I would have tried this years ago.

Hahaha true hobbyist! Allways ready to be hands on on new stuff :)

Very nice work! Exellent idea on the water cooling hose aswell, uve def. Given me some more confidence to drill glass tanks, where did u get ur glass bits from?

I bought a 1.5 diamond bit from JEHMCO, was a bit more expensive than some I've seen, but he said I'd probably get up to 20 holes before it became dull. I run about 20 tanks, so it fit my needs pretty much perfectly. Most of the other bits claimed to last 4 or 5 holes before dulling up.

I too feel empowered by DIY youtube videos. Not quite sure im ready for drilling anything nice at this point. I might search craigslist for a practice tank lol
