Hi everyone, I just joined here and I wanted to introduce one of my tanks.

This is a 46 gallon community:
2X96 Watt PC lighting
DIY CO2 (3x2L bottles)
Dosing dry ferts macros/micros/iron
Weekly 50% water change

thanks guys, it has actually changed a bit since these photos, I just havent taken any pics. I removed most of the Dwarf Sag and added Blyxa Japonica. I am also trying my hand at some harder plants, we will see how it goes.

If your dosing PPS-Pro and not using the EI method you should be able to get away with not doing a Weekly 50% WC - save the back on the lifting and maintence. As heavy planted as you are and depending on your fert dosing schedule I'de say you would be good not WC'n so much.

Just my 2 cents. Very nice tank and heavy planted :D

tharsis - Oh the ideas you give me =)

And thank you for your previous insight on my questions.

lastly, can you ID that fish in your last two(2) pictures?

Thanks for the input :)

I agree that I probably don't need to WC as much as I do since I dry dose on the light side of the EI method. But I am stocking fairly heavily so I like to keep the fish happy. Plus I like to get the water level low when I trim and rearrange things. It has become part of my maintainance routine and it actually requires very little manual labor since I use pumps in and out of my tank.

They are Bolivian rams...very cool fish with great personalities.

awesome.. in back of my head I was thinking that what they were.

How do they fair in a normally community tank setup? I see you have neons and angels etc.

I plan to have many tetra's, ranbows, few swords etc.

yeah the rams are perfect for this community tank...they really mind their own business. When they are getting close to spawning they will develop a bit of chip on their shoulder but nothing serious. They are by far my favorite fish in this tank.

Dwarf cichlids in general are great for planted tanks, they are small and love the plants and they have sooo much more personality than tetras. The agassissii in my 20 Long are fantastic as well.
