So I have a pair of convicts that I believe might be a breeding pair. One is all pink, and one is pink with orange on the top and bottom of the fish. Earlier in the week, the female laid eggs, so I had to get a divider to separate my oscar from the eggs. I waited a day or 2, and everything seemed ok. On the third day, I walked into my room and saw the oscar swimming with the convicts. I immediately put him back on the other side and surveyed the damage. He had definitely eaten all but about 8 eggs (which the father later ate out of spite). My less-that-4" oscar jumped over a tank divider (which was even with the top of the water) and eaten pretty much all of the first spawning from my convict pair. Next time, I'll be sure to raise the divider a little higher or lower the water level when dealing with eggs. That just shouldn't happen.

Sorry about your luck. I can imagine you weren't expecting that.

I had a similar experience with a GT and a Firemouth in my 20g growout. The GT had jumped the divider (he just hated the FM) and proceeded to resume beating on him. Luckily I was around at the time, and after a double take, moved the GT, raised the cheap divider up an inch or two, and used some rocks to cover the slight gap now at the bottom of the tank.

If I ever have to use a divider again, I will be sure to buy some egg crate (light diffuser) and cut it tall enough to divide completely.

Sorry that sux alot try getting a highr divider or lower the water level that should help.

when filling my tank the water rose over the divider i was using to separate my 7-8"oscars from my 3"jag. the jag swam fearlessly over the divider and is now hangin tough with the o's. he doesnt even hide. the big o i have could easily have him for lunch, but for some reason he just doesnt. just wanted to tell my story... :)

wow that sucksss! Oscars are crazy. My O has managed to kill nearly everything I've had him with except one neon tetra that a friend of mine put in the tank...its an odd pair, but it looks pretty funny.

Wow... My cons bred just fine with my Oscar and other carnis..... HHHmmm that sucks...
