The past 4 years have been the same, luckily with no tragic ending.

I'm a student and go to my parents' place for a couple weeks every Christmas, which means I have to leave my tanks with auto-feeders. I have someone who cleans my tanks weekly, and does an excellent job at that.

Still, I always come back to my house and I'm hesitant to look at my tanks, always expecting disaster. The time when I leave my fish is coming up in the next week when I head out for the holidays, and I hate it!

Does anyone else fall under this category?

I'm wondering if I should just starve my fish for the 2 weeks - auto-feeders freak me out.

Starve. Two weeks is nothing for a healthy fish.

I cant use an auto feeder anyhow as fish fillet, clams, shrimp, etc get a little rank after two weeks of non refridgeration.

Yeah, I've been thinking about starving, or even getting the guy who cleans my tank to feed them when he drops by.

I was worried about my community tank - ghost shrimp, galaxy rasboras, 2 killifish species, scarlet badis, etc. - and how they would do under starvation. Most of those fish only eat live/frozen food anyways, so I guess they'll go hungry regardless.

I live in state so not a big problem for me. Ill probably just take my fish home with me. Everytime i leave my fish unattended for too long i come back to my angels looking like crap. :irked: It also helps that my big boys are still with my rents. I wonder what my landlord would think if i put a 300 in the garage???? He said i could only have a 30 in the house. nothing about the garage.

But yeah if its just a week or two then i just starve em or do the 7 day feeder. But i have a month off coming up so no feeder i trust.

I've tried the automatic feeders before, water got up in the feeder and i came home to moldy fish food. Superexcited about that one.
