Ok so we know in the fish hobby, that everything basically has been tried, and there's a general "that works, or that won't work" with what fish are compatible. So after waking up today and finding a royal pleco completely finless from my girlfriends frontosa,. I figure why not hear about some other stories of what was suppose to work, but didn't.. well post them up guys! Oh yea and merry xmas everyone :)

I got a baby TATF about a month ago and decided to add some tinfoil barbs to help pellet train it, I woke up the next day and the ATF was a little beat up so I removed the barbs, added salt and kept up with water changes, healed up well and all is good. Then I was told that it's very unlikely that it was the TFB's and was more likely him freaking out because I didn't have a night light so I added the barbs back in and set up moon lights, everything was fine for about a week but then having just returned home with a 220g for my new pride and joy I see him upside down with hardly any fins or scales and I couldn't save him :( I will never own another barb!!!

I had a 8" rtc by himself in a 75 grow out. I put in a 10" polypterus ornapinis. One week later I see the polypteruous face first in the rtc's mouth dead. The rtc was breathing really heavy. It almost looked like he was choking (wich he probably was). I ended up having to pull the bichir out of his mouth with my hand.:barf: It was really gross.

I thought my bichir was strong enough to swim away from the suction of the filter... you can tell how that ended

@festaedan, I had about the same thing happen to me years ago. Only thing it was a 10" bullhead with about a 6.5" managuense half way down its throught lol. Its deff a catfish thing. Deff will bite off more then they can chew!

So when I first got my python water changer I used the gravel vac at the end but then it fell off one day and I never got to putting it back on and was using the python without the gravel vac at the end. Well one day while changing my water my 4" SB senegaus decides he wants to check it out. He try to swim very close to the tube to investigate but instead gets stuck in the tube. I was lucky that he was just big enough to not get sucked all the way to the sink that I was using. So I ended up turning the water off and cut about a 5" piece off my python that he's stuck in. I thought that once I did that he'd be able to swim out in his own but he was really stuck. So I ended up getting a rag and pulling him out. His head was a little read and he was obviously traumatized but he eventually healed and got over it because he almost tried it again a couple of days ago.

You got lucky man. I've heard of a lot of fish making it all the way to the sink through the hoses.

I've heard and seen a lot of posts and photos on here with MBU's and rays, so I gave it a try. Well, the MBU bit off the tail of the ray above the barb. The MBU was 24" give or take and I think the ray was a large motoro. Will never do that again :)
