The overflow box in the tank. Must be just small enough to fit through the slots at the top. I had to leave shortly after I saw it in there, so just left it til later. Came back, and he'd found his way back into the main tank lol

How the hell did he make it back in the tank against the current?

I had a client whos loaches did this all the time. You can sit there and try to get it with a net but the easiest way is to just pull the standpipe and grab him out of the sump.

I had one do it once before in the past. I closed the ball valve to my main drain, pulled that standpipe, but left my emergency drain standpipe since that doesn't have a valve. That gave me enough room to get the net in. The thought of draining it down to the sump did cross my mind as well, though.
