so the last three days the powers been out in my house and i finally got it back last night (all my fish are alive =D). my frozen bloodworms and beefheart were thawed out but still in the individual squares unopened. i was just wondering if they are safe to feed my fish or should i go out and buy new food?

buy new food. after 3 days? you're talking about your food sitting in your fridge or freezer with no powre for the entire 3 days? Three days is a long time. I could understand if the food was thawed but refigerated. But it was at room temperature for 3 days.

Ah...this might sound sketch, but when I make my food, I thaw it soaking with selecon, then I add 5ml of tank water, swirl it around and feed. One whole cube lasts me almost a week, so I just put it in the refridgerator. I say if it doesnt stink to bad when you pop one out go for it. Especially if you are feeding to hardy fish. In the wild fish pretty much eat whatever smells the worst and fits in their mouth, so Im pretty sure you could get away with this.

I agree. 3 days is a long time.

Well are you going to eat the other stuff in the fridge? If your worried about the milk and ice cream making you sick then dont feed the fish their food. I'll chop up my fish food 2-3 days in advance but its still of a quality I would eat myself.

Throw the old stuff and buy new ones. Better safe than sorry.

3 days and no fish loss! Pretty lucky..............

not luck bro, its called waking up every few hours and doing water changes =p
and i realized today some of my SSS crystal red shrimp are gone.. so yeah...

and yeah, i guess ill just throw that stuff out and go buy more... just didnt want to waste food if i didnt have to

Its hard to say... imo, unless during those 3 days your power your fridge/freezer stayed pretty damn cold some how, i'd probably just replace the food too... since as lupin even said, better safe than sorry...
