I brought a 12" Dovii home a while back and havent posted anything about the event or how he's doing in the tank.
Its been a while but i have some pics for you guys of when I brought him home.
Came home with me from a local MFK in this nifty 18gal tub.
This is not a good picture but it gives you an idea of exactly how thick this fish is.
This is me dipping him in his new home after drip acclimation.
I really hate taking pictures in the tank because i dont have any lights on any of my tanks, this coupled with the bad camera make for painful viewing material.
He went into a 220 with a 8" male Festae, smaller female Festae, a Midas, 6 clown loaches and 3 smaller TFB's.
I know most of you are wondering how this setup turned out. Well I genuinely thought I would have good chances. The previous owner told me he had never even seen a feeder and while he lived solo was a pretty docile fish.
Well, almost immediatly one every night the Tin Foils dissapeared. This honestly didnt worry me that much because of their small size. Everything was cheery then about three days ago I noticed that his finnage was a much brighter blue and figured he must be trying to mate with my female Festae. The next morning I came in to both the male Festae and Midas beat up near the surface with clamped fins, the female Festae and Dovii just swam around flirting like nothing ever happened.
They honestly didnt look too bad so I decided to take the female out and possibly they would all get along without her. It didnt work.
The male Festae is currently in a 29g with salt healing nicely.
The female Festae is in the 55g with 5 juvy umbees and another very small female.
The Dovii will stay in the 220g for now with the clowns who are awesome at hiding and two Midas's that he has'nt touched since I removed the Festae's
I plan on getting a 135 for the pair and the clowns.
