wassup everybody, i was thinkin about gettin a cubed 150 gallon tank. and was wondering, which cichlids to put in there. i was thinking about a convict, dempsey, texas, and midas cichlid...what do you guys think.:nilly:

ummm wat are the dimensions. exactly the midas and texas would be nice..

yeah Dimentions would be nice, you can get much better fish with a longer wider tank than a taller one.

but what are the dimensions? like what is the length and heigth of the tank?

to be certain what species will work, we need to know what the surface area on the bottom is going to be, as this more effects what fish then the actual gallonage.

actually its a cubed 150 gallon..shaped like a big ice cube....has more height than width...it's pretty big..so what ya'll think?

A cube has 6 equal sides. It can't be a cube if it's taller than long and wide but I get the point. If at all possible, get a tank that has the most footprint. Long and wide is better than tall. Don't waste your money on that tank cuz you'll very soon realize what we're talking about. It's very limited on what you can do with it.

Well if ya had a 32.5" cubed that would give ya about 150 gallons, I've never seeen this type tank and I don't think it would be all that good for a couple large cichlids.

Most likely you are looking at a 48" x 24" x 30", if this is the case that tank would be good, but you would actually be able to house more cichlids in a 125gallon that is 72" x 18" x 22".

Your best bet with tanks is to go with long and wide/deep. The greater height of the tank really does not allow you to have more fish.

Not sure what a "long 90" is but in my 90 gallon (48" x 18" x 24" high) I have a JD, GT, firemouth, sunfish, and a 6" largemouth Bass I'm letting go this summer. He's gona be able to start eating tankmates pretty soon. They're called Largemouth for a reason

90's a good size for a reasonable number of medium sized cichlids. What fish interest you at this point?

A 90long is 5'x2'x20" slightly shortened 100g standard. I agree that shape has more to do with what you house in an aquarium than capacity.
