My 30 or so pounds of live rock:

My one and only fish:

I am planning on getting a goby next week or so, then a valentini in late september. Also a quick question, when I do water changes or top offs, should I match the salinity in the bucket with the tank? Thanks!

Also what do you guys feed your clowns? I tried some bloodworms, nothing. tried freeze dried krill, nothing. NLS cichlid formula, he picked at it but didn't eat a whole one.

Water changes should be matched to the salinity of the aquarium unless you need to adjust the salinity of the aquarium up/down. Top-offs must be 100% freshwater unless you want to raise the salinity too much & thereby kill your fishes.

I fed my previous couple clownfish NLS saltwater pellets & Hikari saltwater pellets; I purchased those at PetSmart of all places since the PetCo by me is terrible when it comes to saltwater stuff despite the fact that they sell saltwater fishes...

Personally, I would rearrange the live rock in order to maximize the number of caves & crevices while ensuring stability. There are various methods of attaching the rock together once you decide on your desired arrangement, too, so you don't have to worry about the rocks shifting & falling.

Lastly, did you cycle the aquarium at all?

I feed mine NLS. Just give it some time. Also when you do water changes match the salinity. I like to keep mine at 1.024. When you TOP OFF, (remember this very important) use freshwater since salt does not evaporate.

Yes I did make a bunch of caves and stuff with the rock when I first added it. I did do a short fish less cycle, but I heard it is not that necessary since I have 20 lbs of live sand and 30 of live rock. I will go and buy some NLS saltwater formula. Thanks!

Make sure that you get the pellets in the smallest size possible; I noticed that my old clownfish had trouble with some of the so-called "small" pellets & fared better with "mini" pellets.

The cycle was necessary even with the live rock & "live" sand. That sand isn't actually "live" if it's from a bag from a store by the way; that stuff is just dirty sand as the beneficial bacteria can't survive in the sealed bag for very long.

Do you think he will ever go in the caves? I mean he didn't even go in the rocks at the lfs, and now he isn't here. He just keeps swimming everywhere lol. Ideas?

My clowns don't really go into caves they stay in they're anemone and dot venture far. I have another. Percula clown that hosts the overflow and he never leaves it. Give him a week or so and he will find some place he likes and stay there. As far as food. Dry food seems to be the easiest but I don't like dry because it tends to have more phosphates. When I'm lazy I use formula one reef flakes purple container. But 99% of the time I use a blender mush. I go to the grocery store and buy as much fresh stuff as I can like octopus, squid, whole raw shrimp, cod fillets and then throw it in the blender and purée it and add phyto, and zoo plankton and brine blend a little more. Then mix in some krill and they love it. I give 2 tbs a day in my 150 and 4 in the 180. It costs me about 20$ a month to feed 600g worth of fish. The coral love it too

What type of anemone can I do in a 29? How about some zoanthids? When should I add them?
