No reflector which is a drawback, but the whole unit including bulbs measures approximatly 2"x2".

Its been brought to my attention in some areas these t-5 lights have been available for years at this price?!Surprised they arent more popular.

Now finding the ones without a reflector worked out better as a matter of fact.At a recent auction for no apparent useful reason I purchased 2 3m clip on reflector kits designed for a single 5' t-12 lamp.Perfect fit width wise a few minutes with the tin snips and a few pop rivets and perfect! They now have high polish metal reflectors
These fit perfectly into the rack that holds 2 55g tanks and gives me more working room above the tanks

Wow bright! brighter than the t8 and t12 units by a noticeable amount! When I had installed 1 I could do a comparison with the 2 nearly identical 55g tanks side by side and even with the t-5 lamps mounted 5" higher that tank is better lit.So if the bulb life is comparable these will be the new lights of choice in the fishroom, heck Ill probably install them in the workshop too.

I got my 48" shop lights for 15$ at HD
But its not dual bulb=(

I use that shoplight too, I drilled it under the canopy - looks awsome.

I get the 4' standard 2 bulb t-8 shoplights for $10 too got lots of them.
I think you need to reread the first 2 posts.

I forgot to add the entire unit with bulbs measures 2"x2"!
DIY canopy for a planted tank anyone?I could see 4 maybe 5 of these units fitting over a 55g tank

Yea i think its new in the northeast, other parts of the country have had them for awhile.
Tanks look great with the new brighter lights, and more working space above the tanks so they are easier to clean and catch fish.

nice, going to have to look out for these. You can also line the inside of the shoplight with the shiny side of the foil and tape it on. Did wonders in my tanks, had to remove in some since it was too strong!

I love the T8 fixtures that I have, but I like the T5 light better. Time to get these to retrofit my current setup! LOL.
