Finally got this baby up and going, need to seed it with some media and get it cycled... so some questions... also if you read my previous post I also have a 6 foot diameter circle pond on hand and possibly larger soon, there is also a large secondary market in my area for monsters If things do happen to go off track for whatever reason.
So atm I have my 9 inch GG going in here and a Senegal bichir I’m growing out. What would be some other good fish to growout in this 5 by 3 foot tank? Was thinking a butterfly peacock bass, maybe a datnoid? Would love an Arowana but I fear these dimensions won’t accommodate it long. I’m expecting to use this for 2 years or so, would like to keep with fish that will be fine at around 3 just for safe measure. From my reading I should be expecting the GG to be 12 inch at one year and then slow down a lot, maxing out at around 21-25 inches. Not too worried about him, same goes for my Senegal bichir.

Would definitely want some good catfish to help keep the sand turned over and relatively clean, filtration is a 4x turnover and also have a 500gph powerhead and some air pumps. Also a crap ton of pothos!

just would like to hear some thoughts, not afraid of jumpers either! Getting a lid setup tomorrow

thanks in advance guys!

Maybe a Giraffe cat. They max out usually around 24 , pretty gentle for a cat and root around the bottom. Would probably keep the sand stirred a bit.
I don’t know how they interact with bichir though I’ve never kept any together.

I like the idea of the giraffe cat, I’ll look into those. Do they put on weight pretty fast?
