It is a freshwater cichlid tank with a ~30 gallon Wet/Dry filter powered by a GenX-30 external pump
1) The external pump is INCREDIBLY LOUD, i got it used with the setup but would love to retire it and get a quiter pump. Would a submersible pump be my best bet to keep a quiet tank? any reccomendations on brands please
2) The output on the Wet/Dry makes for a strong water current. I bought a Koralia 4 powerhead for more agitation. I'm thinking of just returning it though. Do I really need a powerhead on the other side of the tank away from the Wet/Dry output to circulate the water? I will have ~15 or so cichlids in the tank. Would the powerhead at a lower level near the gravel be beneficial or a waste?
3) I have a 250 W stealth heater in the sump, should I purchase a second heater or is one sufficent?
4) How often should I clean/replace the plastic bio balls and the filter pad in the sump?
5) Head height in water pumps? I read the sticky but did not get my question answered. How much pressure is lost in a pump for each foot of vertical distance? Is it a ratio of the pump to its max height?
