Some of us learned the hard way dipping our toes into this fantastic hobby. Thousands of dollars spent. Sleepless nights and a lot of keyboard time on MFK.
This is a little story about my addiction of fish keeping and what it has encouraged me to do.
My first tank was a 30 gallon starter kit from big als. I ignored advice and never cycled the tank. I killed many fish. Learned many lessons. Less then a month later I was on kijiji prowling for a bigger tank. Eureka a 75 full set up for $100.
At this point I was hooked. I spent hours on MFK every day. My life turned into a big fish keeping expedition. Countless hours on kijiji and Craigslist stockpiling tanks and equipment.
Fast forward now we have over 14 tanks running and I'm going to pickup a 300 gallon tomorrow. Super excited about that. But to touch base on why I wrote this. Where has fish keeping taken you? What changes have you made in life to accommodate your fish?
I knew nothing about plumbing and pvc piping before I started fish keeping. With determination and some guidance not to mention confidence from members here I managed to plumb a 4 tank 600 gallon sump system.
Fast forward a year and I'm attempting to finish our basement. Something I have never done before. Nor did I ever have the want to.
People look at me crazy when I tell them I won't be satisfied until I have a tank so big I need scuba gear to clean it.
Isn't it crazy how crazy fish can make us
