The African Arowana Checklist

Sponge Filter
BB Tank w/lid
Baby Brine Shrimp Frozen
Brine Shrimp Eggs
Temp at 80-82

BTW the Sponge filter is HUGE at least 6" in diameter, and I was wondering if having an Ornate and Ansorgii Bichir Tankmate would be okay to have....Further more his growout plan is 10gal-20gal-75gal-180gal would he harass African Butterflyfish? or be beat up by Jewel/Calvus cichlids

i have an african arowana about 6" and no sponge filter and hes doing perfectly fine. you dont really need the sponge as long as you feed him good enough. also doesnt really matter what kind of bichirs you get just make sure they are about the same size. if you see anyone being aggressive to the afro make sure to take them out. you can also bump your temp to 86-88 no problem, thats what mines at right now. when i had my temp at 80 my tank got ich so now i try to keep it up pretty high, so just watch out for scratching or white spots. also becareful not to feed to much cus they can die from overfeeding. good luck what size are you getting?

yeah i got mine at that size, had him for a while and my heater crapped out on my so the next day i got a new one. a couple of days later he was dead on the floor so i got another one and hes doing just fine. im sure it was cus my heater went out and the temp got kinda low. i suggest that you feed him different foods at feedings not only brine shrimp. you can get bloodworms, pellets, daphnia, krill etc, and blackworms etc. i fed blackworms to bulk him up, then i stopped feeding cus its kinda messy and i want him to eat pellets wich he does now. good luck
