I just bought a Africkan Pike Characin (APC). Anyone who has some experience with this beatiful and real teethy fish? Ive read alot on the Internet so I don't need any facts, it would just be fun to hear about other peoples APCs:)

Mine is about 6-7 inches and feed right away a couple of minutes from being let down in his new tank:)

there awsome mine just got eaten he was like 8 or 9". there awsome, and cool to see eat feeders

I had one like 2 years ago. It was purely by accident, because I ordered a fish, which was unavailable, so the seller replaced it with the odoe pike.

Well, needless to say I was more than pleased. Very beautiful fish, and took shrimp right away.

One disadvantage was I had trouble adding new fish in the tank, because the pike got used to the idea that whatever is "dropped" in the tank is "food", so he'll immediately attack whatever hits the water - including new fishes.

:(

sorry about your loss USMCtanker:(

Do you guys know whats good tankmates? And whats the biggest odoe you have seen?

I had one that grew up from about 3" to 10 " in about a year. Was pretty mild mannered, never had any trouble with him with my more mellow or smaller fish.

But, when my silver arrow reached about 8" he started beating the living hell out of my Odoe. He deceided he hated it... so I had to sell the odoe to save him.

But , it was a fun fish... I really like 'em

Nothing aggressive, because these pikes are very mellow and minds their own business.

So that basically rules out most cichlids.

I kept mine with stingrays, datnoids, bichirs and gars.

no such thing as a non agressive SH lol

I had one dont keep it with Central American cichlids thet tend to get batterd they need to be with things that they cant get into there mouth but cant hurt them it that makes sence. They jump so put a good lid on the tank mine got to about a foot 12" nice fish took whitebait so didnt require live food.
