This is one of my babies, she is an Ornate Bichir, very adorable, very beautiful. She and one of her tankmates, a Climbing Perch would have a little quarrel now and then. Sometimes the Climbing Perch going and pushing her away or wagging his tail at her. Other times she would be chasing him around and trying to give a bite..
Now, she is in a new tank, and has become 11 inches in length as he is 6 inches in length. She is being aggressive towards him, literally going for a bite but he is fast so he would get out of the way or just push her to find his way out. However he has experienced a little injury on his fins from her bite...she has such a powerful snap. My Florida Gar with sharp needle like teeth would chomp on a feeder and the feeder could normally still swim if released ( although the Gar is capable of doing worse which I've seen ), but her's...wow the feeder would just lay still after a couple of powerful snaps..what jaws.
Below are some old pictures, my digicam is not with me at the moment to make an update. How is the temperament of your Ornate Bichir?
