The Banjo Minnow

Hi there, I have had great sucsess with the ol'banjo minnow. Have caught bass and trout. They just dont seem to last too long. I would say they work just as good as zoom fluke type plasticks.

I have a few sets of banjo minnows. I like them for bass, but they have the typical disadvantage of any plastic bait, damage - wear and tear. If a pike gets a hold of it, its pretty much done for. The hook system works fine for bass, just let them run with it before you set the hook, but sometimes the pike never take the whole thing down. Especially if you use the larger minnows and a smallish 18-20in pike grabs it in the middle, you'll never get a good hookset on him.

For bass, I didn't use any weight and let the 'buoyancy' work its majic. You have to be patient because it sinks slow, but if you get a good cast, it stays in the hit zone longer. I never tried the jig head system.

we catch 1000's of smallies, pike and large mouths on them...we twitch them along the surface and they smack'em...they work...we just do the hook in the front and work them just below the surface
