Ok, so it was our idea so here we go...everyone with a Batman Stingray please post as much information as you can about yours; species, age, sex, size, what it eats, tank mates, etc. Anything you can think of that might help us all care for these special rays.

Batgirl:

Species: Motoro
Born: 1/12/10
Sex: Female (obviously)
Size: At birth she was about 3 1/2", she is now right at 5 1/2"
Food: Frozen Krill and ghost shrimp (yes she can catch them)
Tank mates: 6" Synodontis Decorus & 5" Discus
Current tank: 120 (she will get a bigger one as needed)
Filtration: FX5 and a Magnum canister

Pics: :)

i dont have one any more but i kept one for about 4 years.

species: retic
sex: male
size: when i got him 4" when he passed he was about 12 1/2"
food: talapia, earth worms, raw cocktail shrimp, was hand fed 2x daily
tank mates: 6"rtc, 8"tsn, 5"bgk, 12"silver aro, 2x 5"rb pacu
filtration: 2 FX5
tank size: 240g 8'x2'x2'

the reason he died is he must have been spooked by something in the night and got out of the tank through the slits in the back of the lid. found him on the floor in back of the stand the next morning still alive but he did not make it.

i would like to add those of you with half bats should also post up. seeing as some think they wont make it to adult hood. it would be interesting to see how the half's get along with life as well. just to kinda see if it comes with any internal deformaties that might be present in a full bat and not the half or in both or none kind of deal.

Thanks for sharing Keni. Even if you don't have one anymore the more information we can gather in one place will be helpful for all of us in the future. So, yes, 1/2 batray owners, former owners, current owners; please everyone contribute.

no problem anything i can do to help the future of these lil guys...and girls. if im not mistaken you breed rays right? if so and you ever get another and a re willing to finde it another home i would love to get another one...

Yes, we do breed rays and we still have the mother and father Batgirl came from, but she has had 2 more litters (7 pups) since her first litter of 3 that Batgirl was in and they have all been normal. Which leads us to believe it isn't genetic in anyway and possibly just a very random birth defect. We are really hoping everyone with batman rays will contribute so maybe it can be determined why this happens. I should have put the fact it was "Sandy's" first litter in the stats in my first post. Maybe we can find a common thread.
