The beginning of a Dovii journey

Finally pulled the trigger on some Dovii. I have always been hesitant of owning these fish because of the requirements for long term care. Somebody I know has about 1000 of them and gave me 15 for free . Im just growing them out for a single male and re-home the rest.

They grow really fast, A little shy sometimes but fun to watch. Good luck with them.

That is awesome! I was also in the same boat. Wanted either some dovii or umbees, but I went with umbees. Good luck with the fish.

Coming along pretty good. I started with 15 fry and kept the biggest/most dominate one from the group. He’s grown about 2 inches in a little over a month since I got him at .5 inch. Not shy at all.Feeding aggressively on hikari,bug bites,omega one, krill, tilapia, earthworms, crickets and tetra cichlid sticks- oh no not tetra brand food, hey it’s 46% protein and when used as part of a varied diet I think it’s awesome. He’s in a 90 gallon by himself until he puts on some real size

Belly full of tilapia and growing fast. I hope he turns out to be a male!

Update: Growth is steady but honestly not as fast as I thought it would be.
