In the beginning, I had no idea what I was getting into. I had never kept fish before and had no way of knowing what I was getting into.

Here is a picture of the first few months of my tank. (notice the girlfriend had not learned to stay away from the tank yet)

After learning a little about fish and planted tanks I began my slow evolution to becoming a monster planter. The first step was to get rid of the fake stuff

But even that was not good enough. After talking to WyldFya who thankfully decided to help my out, I decided to dive right in. I bought most of the equipment I needed and spent the next few days figuring it all out.

And the results???

A few weeks later everything looked amazing and was growing in nicely! :)

But then disaster struck... :(

Green water took over my tank...

I started buying all the plants I could find in order to hopefully help stop the impending doom. but in the end, I was left with almost nothing left :(

So it was time to rebuild!

Over all it has taken about a year to get my tank to where it is today from when I first went all out. And even still I had to have more.

This is my 55 low tec planted that is the home of my EBJD

I am working on a very special DIY project too. I will be posting on here soon :p so be on the lookout!

I would also like to take this time to thank WyldFya because without him none of this would have been possible. I couldnt have done it without his help and all the patience he had when putting up with my billion questions. Thank you!

So let me have it guys, what do you think?

Nice! Your plants look very healthy.

I would consider moving your plants a little to provide a more dramatic slope like the picture below.

Also, many of your plants have red/pink colors and hue. I would suggest breaking it up a little with more green between the various species. This will really make the individual plants Pop and provide greater contrast and depth.

Otherwise a great tank. Bravo.

I actually plan on having the same type of slope as in that pic. I'm using the drift wood to guide the slope, the back behind the driftwood and the very far right in front will be the bright green plant that is already in the front left. then the plant in my back left will come tapering down to the ground where my bright green motto grosso will be. oh and the rosafoila will be in the verry middle. I am waiting on all my plants to grow to the right sizes before I start pulling out the extra plants that are in there and start the real aquascaping. Thank you so much for your tips I look forward for some more cool ideas for my tanks!

Nice setup. Your plants are coming in nicely. Are you running co2?

just some quick updates on my tank. This pic is right after a trimming so it doesnt look near as good as it should. Yes I run Co2 and yes i have to prune every other week. I dont mind though because I just sold my trimmings for $81 bucks at the local fish store :)
