What is the real benefit of UV Sterilizer?

If you use UV Sterilizer you are actually avoiding any outbreak on any pathogens in the water that can have lethal effect to your fish.

Question is, does UV kill pathogens and other microbes? Answer is Yes, they actually change the DNA structure of the microbes and inhibits them from reproducing. In short, they cannot reproduce and die.

The GPH flow is very important to effectiveness of the UV sterilization. If the exposure time is not enough this will not be as effective as it should be.

Different microbes have different response. Gram negative, and spore forming microbes is more resistant to the UV, longer exposure will denature the DNA structure of the microbes.

Lastly, is it worth it? Money is usually an issue, UV is not cheap, and adds cost. It is up to the individual if they are willing to pay for such a fee. Just want to share.:D

In all 50 of my emergency gallon jugs I put them outside for a few days. It is the first thing I grab when there are any issues and its like magic. The sun treated water sets my tanks back to right if i sluff off ever, like when i got the flu real bad this year.
