the best hob filter for sand

Any. Just dont get one that its intake will touch the sand. Make it a minimum of 4" for pool filter sand, and every other sand should be 6".
 
I would have said aquaclear 110, but mine just died cuz of sand. sooo...

The worst sand ever, i forget the name brand, but i only got it cuz 1 LFS had only 3 five lb bags, and it was no where near enough, so i went across town and got the last 7 five lb bags, to total 10 bags of sand. The original 3, are cool, but the other 7 bags i got were EXTRA EXTRA EXTRA FINE RADE SAND. i mean this stuff isnt like salt its like powdered sugar or flour. It is just too fine and i did not rinse it as many times as i should. But i have had AC110's for a year or so, with no problems til last week.

That sucks.

cb671 - I think that the bigger question here would be what kind of sand for a hob filter. I have had best luck with pool filter sand.
